Montreal-London :: Spruce Beer + Gin
I first tasted spruce beer when I move to Quebec. Spruce beer is a traditional beverage made with the tender spring tips of the spruce tree. These spruce tips are added to water and sugar and left to infuse, sometimes yeast is added and the result it a super refreshing and uniquely flavored natural soda. You can learn more about it here.
Spruce beer pairs nicely with gin for an unusual cocktail that tastes amazing and is a fun play on flavors. Add a twist of lime, and enjoy!
Ingredients: (serves 2)
- 3 oz decent gin
- 1 bottle real spruce beer, usually about half a litre
- thin slices of lime
To do:
Pour the spruce beer into 2 nice glasses, add the gin, a twist of lime and gently stir. Best enjoyed on a warm summer day.
I picked up some small batch, limited edition Ethereal Gin on my last trip to Boston. Which is that pretty bottle you see in the picture.
