A long time goal of mine has been to get involved in craft activism. I've always relied on crafts to connect me with my community but I wanted more. I wanted to craft as part of a movement. When I came across a post about the pussy hat project on facebook, I shared it thinking it was such a cool idea. I didn't imagine that I'd be playing a role as a fundraiser and organizer based on this idea. But I am and I love it!
I live in Santa Cruz, California and we are having our own Women's March. It's in support of the marchers in DC, Oakland, San Francisco and everywhere. Our community is traveling to different cities but we also wanted to have a march here to send a message of support, of community, to strengthen our resources, and build ways to protect our rights. I am so proud to be part of this community.
To learn more about the march in Santa Cruz, visit the website and join the facebook group.
We need to raise lots of money to ensure a safe, peaceful and successful march. Every bit helps! If you can donate please visit the donation page.
Our fundraising efforts include a very cool t-shirt and pussy hats with a Santa Cruz patch. You can order these here.
If you knit, crochet, weave or sew and would like to make hats and donate them to us to sell as part of our fundraiser please contact me via my contact page! I'm organizing a hat making circle this Tuesday, January 10th. See the details here. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated!
